Introduction

After eighteen years of teaching in Key Stage 1, the prospect of having to teach for another twenty seven years seemed to be way beyond what I was capable of. The changes to pensions that the Government were proposing were the final straw. I decided to leave teaching. Easier said than done you're thinking...

Well, it's two years later and I have left, and I don't intend on ever going back. My thinking on jobs now is along the lines of anything but teaching. So how did I get out and what challenges did I face? In this blog I'll detail how I actually managed this tremendous feat, so that you could maybe have a go yourself.

I used to live for moments (mainly holidays) but now I'm able to live in (and enjoy) the moment. If you feel that your work/life balance is 99% work and 1% life (and in that 1% you still end up spending your time thinking about work) then this blog could well be for you.

In my next post, I'll give my main reasons for leaving the profession. See you soon. (Click here to go straight to that page.)
